Dr James Tan is a skilled ACL surgeon in Singapore with specialised expertise in knee surgery and sports medicine. He is known for his effective and personalised approach when treating each patient.

Dr James Tan graduated from the NUS Faculty of Medicine with a Masters of Medicine (Orthopaedics). He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) and has received intensive specialist training in the Department of Sports Orthopaedics at the Technical University of Munich, Germany, under the guidance of Professor Andreas Imhoff.

Being a sportsperson himself and having treated national athletes before, Dr Tan has an in-depth understanding of the anxieties and injuries that athletes commonly face.

Dr Tan is the Principal Investigator of various tissue engineering (bone, meniscus and tendon) projects that have been awarded grants by the National Medical Research Council; and frequently collaborates with scientists from Nanyang Technological University, Technical University of Munich, A*Star, Osteopore and Trendlines Medical Singapore.

With a passion in teaching and advancing the field of orthopaedics, Dr Tan is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS) and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU).

Dr Tan is fluent in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, Teochew, and Malay; and is committed to providing tailored, specialist care for his patients. Dr Tan’s ACL clinics are located at Camden Medical and Mount Alvernia Hospital.
